Ryan Braun homered twice and Chris Carter added a grand slam as the Brewers pounded the Cubs, 11-3, at Wrigley Field. Braun finished with five RBI and Carter capped the win in the ninth with the grand slam to lift Milwaukee. Scooter Gennett clubbed an RBI-double and scored four times. Zach Davies earned the win as the Crew took a 2-1 lead in the four-game series.
Jake Arrieta took the loss, falling to 17-and-7 for the Cubs. Chris Coghlan homered in defeat.

Eric Hosmer's two-out RBI in the fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Royals held off the White Sox 3-2 in Kansas City. Kendrys Morales and Hunter Dozier provided the rest of the Royals offense with an RBI apiece. Dillon Gee got the win with four-and-a-third innings of one-run ball in relief of starter Jason Vargas. This was the 1000th win of manager Ned Yost's career.
Melky Cabrera had two hits and an RBI for the Sox and Miguel Gonzalez took the loss, giving up three over seven innings of work.
