Cubs and White Sox both win on Friday

Miguel Montero led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run to give the Cubs a dramatic 5-4 win over the Brewers at Wrigley Field. Chicago scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings. Addison Russell's infield single knotted the game at four. Albert Almora Jr. also homered for the Cubs, who clinched the NL Central on Thursday. Aroldis Chapman got credit for the win.

Carlos Torres blew the save in the ninth and Blaine Boyer took the loss in the 10th. Orlando Arcia, Ryan Braun and Scooter Gennett all homered for Milwaukee in defeat.

Game 2 of the series is today at Wrigley Field.

Chris Sale struck out ten in a four-run, complete game effort as the White Sox rallied past the Royals, 7-4, at Kauffman Stadium.  Sale improved to 16-and-8 with the win.  Chicago scored five runs over the final two frames, highlighted by home runs by Carlos Sanchez and Melky Cabrera.

Kansas City's Kelvin Herrera blew the save and took the loss, allowing four runs over one-and-a-third innings.  The Royals have dropped five straight to fall to 74-and-73 on the year.

Both teams return to the field tonight in Kansas City.
