(Brandon Moss' two-run homer in the sixth pushed the Cardinals to a 4-2 win over the Cubs. Aledmys Diaz clubbed a two-run shot of his own in the second for St. Louis, which remains a half-game back of the Mets for the second NL Wild Card. Alex Reyes got the win in relief and Kevin Siegrist secured his second save.
Dexter Fowler and Addison Russell drove in the runs for Chicago. Jason Hammel fanned nine, but allowed all four runs to fall to 14-and-9. The Magic Number remains 3 in clinching the National League Central Division.

A seven-run sixth inning gave the White Sox an 8-1 win versus the Indians in the second of four games at U.S. Cellular Field. Jose Abreu had two hits and two RBI, while Todd Frazier also drove in two. Jose Quintana improved to 12-and-10, dealing eight innings of one-run ball and striking out six. Brandon Guyer's solo shot was the only offense Cleveland would get.
Trevor Bauer took the loss. The Tribe have a six-game lead on the Tigers for first place in the American League Central.
