Kyle Hendricks allowed just one run in six innings and the Cubs piled on late to beat the Brewers 7-2 at Miller Park. Hendricks improved to 14-and-7, while lowering his MLB-leading ERA to 2.07. Chris Coghlan drove in three runs, including a pitch-hit, go-ahead single in a two-run seventh for Chicago. Javier Baez and Jorge Soler each had two hits and an RBI in the win.
Ryan Braun and Chris Carter each hit solo homers for the Brew Crew. Zach Davies saw his record drop to 10-and-7 after allowing three runs in six-and-two-thirds innings.
Game #2 of the series is tomorrow night in Milwaukee.
