The Patriots edged the Bears, 23-22, in a preseason affair at Gillette Stadium. Jay Cutler was 8-of-12 for 83 yards. Jeremy Langford rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. The Bears continue preseason play against the Chiefs next week.
A freak thumb injury kept Patriots quarterback Tom Brady out of last night's preseason game. Brady sliced his thumb with scissors while attempting to get something out of the bottom of his cleats prior to the game. He was expected to start before the injury.
