The Cubs earned a split in the four-game Crosstown Classic with a 3-1 win over the White Sox at Wrigley Field. Ben Zobrist had two hits, a run and an RBI for the Cubs. John Lackey tossed six innings of one-run ball to improve to 8-and-7. Aroldis Chapman got the final four outs for his first save as a Cub. Melky Cabrera smacked an RBI double for the Sox. Fresh off his five-day suspension, Chris Sale allowed two runs in six frames to fall to 14-and-4.
The Cubs open a three-game Interleague series with the Mariners at Wrigley Field this afternoon. The Cubs have a six-and-a-half-game lead on the Cardinals in the NL Central. Jon Lester gets the start for Chicago. Seattle counters with Hisashi Iwakuma.
