White Sox pitcher Chris Sale finds himself suspended after he reportedly cut up the team's throwback uniforms. The All-Star left-hander had been suspended five days for insubordination and destroying team equipment. Sale was scratched from Saturday's start and sent home after he expressed displeasure with having to wear 1976 replica uniforms.
The White Sox notched a pair of walk-off wins over the Tigers. Chicago clipped Detroit, 5-4, in the completion of Saturday's suspended game. The Sox then went on to down the Tigers, 4-3, in Sunday's regularly-scheduled game.
Anthony Rizzo's go-ahead three-run double highlighted a five-run seventh inning as the Cubs clipped the Brewers 6-5 at Miller Park. Rizzo scored what proved to be the deciding run later in the seventh on an RBI single by Ben Zobrist. Zobrist drove in two to help the Cubs take two of three in the series. The Cubs are closing in on giving their bullpen a boost. ESPN reports Chicago is close to completing a deal to acquire closer Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees. Chapman is 3-and-0 with 20 saves and a 2.01 ERA this season.
