The Knicks acquired former NBA MVP Derrick Rose from the Bulls in
exchange for center Robin Lopez and guards Jose Calderon and Jerian
Grant.
Rose was selected No. 1 overall by his hometown Bulls in
2008 and was the NBA Rookie of the Year before being named MVP for
the 2010-11 season. Rose, though, injured his knee for the first
time in the playoffs the following season and missed all of
2012-13. He played in 10 games in 2013-14, 51 in 2014-15 and 66
last season. New York also acquired guard Justin Holiday and a 2017
second-round pick.
Rose averaged 19 points and 6 assists per game for the Bulls last season.
Lopez averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds a game for the Knicks.
