Chicago's Kris Bryant doubled in a run and later scored on Willson Contreras' two-bagger. John Lackey allowed all three runs during his six-inning start to fall to 7-and-3.

The Cubs have placed outfielder Dexter Fowler on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury. Fowler suffered the injury in the first inning of Saturday's win over the Pirates. Chicago recalled pitcher Carl Edward Jr. from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding roster move.
