Max Scherzer struck out 11 over seven strong innings to lead the Nationals to a 4-1 win over the Cubs. Scherzer allowed a run and two hits while walking none to improve to 8-and-4. Shawn Kelley got the final five outs for his first save. Wilson Ramos slugged a solo shot for Washington.
Addison Russell homered in the sixth to break up Scherzer's perfect game. Kyle Hendricks allowed three earned runs in five-and-a-third innings to fall to 4-and-6.
