The Chicago White Sox are shaking things up. They have designated pitcher Mat Latos for assignment and have signed former Twins slugger Justin Morneau to a one-year, one-million-dollar contract.
The 35-year-old missed the bulk of last season with a concussion and neck injury and also had offseason elbow surgery. Morneau won the National League batting title in 2014 with the Colorado Rockies. He's a career .282 hitter with 241 home runs in 13 seasons with the Twins, Pirates and Rockies.
Latos was 6-and-2 with a 4.62 ERA in 11 starts for Chicago this year.
