The Nationals ambushed James Shields in his White Sox debut and coasted to an 11-4 win. Ryan Zimmerman's two-run homer capped a four-run first, while Danny Espinosa and Stephen Drew launched solo shots in the second. Max Scherzer struck out six over seven shutout innings to improve to 7-and-4.
Shields was shelled for seven runs in only two-plus innings to take the loss. Chicago is 29-and-30 after losing the first two in the three-game set.
