Jon Lester fired eight shutout innings and the Cubs held on for a 6-4 win over the Phillies. Lester scattered four hits while striking out nine and walking none to improve to 7-and-3. Hector Rondon earned his 11th save. Jason Heyward launched a two-run homer to help Chicago move to 40-and-16 on the year.
The Phils scored four in the ninth on a three-run blast by Freddy Galvis and a Tommy Joseph solo shot. Adam Morgan took the loss.
