Chicago Baseball

Kyle Hendricks tossed a complete game gem as the Cubs topped the Phillies, 4-1 at Wrigley Field. Hendricks gave up five hits and one run while striking out seven batters. Dexter Fowler went long for the Cubbies, while Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward doubled in a run each. Chicago is a win away from sweeping the Phils.

Jerad Eickhoff took the loss with six innings of four-run ball. Freddy Galvis scored the Phillies' lone run in the ninth inning to prevent the shutout. The Phils have dropped four of their past five games.

Down by six runs entering the final frame, the Royals completed the comeback as they stunned the White Sox, 8-7, in Kansas City.  Brett Eibner notched the walk-off single with the bases loaded in his second big league game.  Whit Merrifield belted a two-run single in the ninth inning, while Drew Butera doubled in Eric Hosmer for the tying run.  Chien-Ming Wang tossed two scoreless innings to earn the relief win for the Royals, who have won four of their past five games.

Avisail Garcia and Tyler Saladino each homered and finished with three RBIs for the White Sox.  Reliever David Robertson gave up four hits and six runs in two-thirds of an inning.  Tommy Kahnle  blew the save and took the loss for the Southsiders.

Final game of the series is this afternoon in Kansas City. Pre-Game Show begins at 12:40 on Newstalk 1060.
