Brett Lawrie belted a go-ahead three-run homer and the White Sox held on for a 7-6 win over the Indians in the opener of a doubleheader. Todd Frazier smacked a solo shot for Chicago. Mat Latos went six innings to improve to 6-and-1. David Robertson secured his 12th save.
Mike Napoli and Marlon Byrd both went deep for Cleveland. Mike Clevinger allowed six runs in five innings to take the loss.
The Indians were able to pull out a split of their doubleheader with the White Sox, 5-1, at U.S. Cellular Field. Chicago won the opener, 7-6. Cleveland's offense was powered by the long ball with Jose Ramirez, Rajai Davis and Juan Uribe each leaving the yard. Cody Anderson earned his first victory, striking out nine over seven innings of one-run ball.
Melky Cabrera had two hits and an RBI, while Erik Johnson fell to 0-and-2.

Randal Grichuk's solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth gave the Cardinals a 4-3 win over the Cubs. Matt Adams belted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the seventh to tie the game for St. Louis. Trevor Rosenthal earned the win in relief.
Miguel Montero had two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who left 10 men on base. John Lackey struck out nine over seven innings in a no-decision. Adam Warren took the loss.
