Chase Anderson took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and the Brewers held on for a 4-2 win over the Cubs in the opener of a three-game series at Miller Park. Anderson allowed back-to-back solo homers in the ninth, falling an out short of the complete game. He improved to 2-and-5 with the victory. Jeremy Jeffress recorded the final out for his 11th save. Jonathan Lucroy homered and Chris Carter hit a two-run double for the Crew, who have won three of four.
Jason Heyward and Kris Bryant went deep for the Cubs, who have lost four of their last six. Kyle Hendricks yielded all four runs in five-and-a-third frames as he fell to 2-and-3.
