Anthony Rizzo's RBI-single in the seventh inning was the difference as the Cubs clipped the Brewers, 4-3, in the opener of a three-game set at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell had a two-run triple in the sixth for the Cubs, who are off to their best 20-game start since 1907 at 15-and-5. Adam Warren tossed two perfect innings to pick up the win and Hector Rondon closed it out for his fourth save.
Ryan Braun's pinch-hit, two-run double in the eighth pulled Milwaukee within one. Jimmy Nelson yielded three runs, one earned, in five-and-a-third frames as he dipped to 3-and-2.
Game #2 of the series is tonight at Wrigley Field.
