Cubs win, White Sox lose in Chicago baseball

John Lackey tossed seven scoreless innings against his former team as the Cubs blanked the Cardinals, 5-0. Lackey scattered four hits while striking out 11 to improve to 3-and-0. Lackey also smacked an RBI single. Dexter Fowler homered for the 10-and-3 Cubs, who are off to their best start since 1970.

Mike Leake allowed three earned runs in seven innings to fall to 0-and-2. St. Louis is 7-and-6.

Game #2 of the series is tonight in St. Louis.

 

The Angels scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back for a 7-0 rout of the White Sox in Chicago.  C.J. Cron  and Andrelton  Simmons each collected three hits as the Halos saw their three-game slide come to an end.  Hector Santiago tossed seven innings of shutout ball to earn his first win of the season for Los Angeles.

The White Sox managed just three hits and were shutout for the second time this year.  Carlos Rodon  recorded just one out in the first inning, giving up five runs on six hits to take the loss.
