Chicago Baseball (Saturday)

Jake Arrieta  tossed eight innings of shutout ball to lead the Cubs past the Rockies, 8-2, at Wrigley Field. The reigning NL Cy Young winner struck out eight batters and improved his scoreless streak at home to 48-and-two-thirds innings. Anthony Rizzo and Jorge Soler  homered on back-to-back pitches to start the fourth inning as Chicago won for the sixth time in seven games.

Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run shot in the ninth to get Colorado on the board. The Rockies saw their three-game win streak come to an end.

Final game of the series is this afternoon at Wrigley Field.

 

Brad Miller plated three runs as the Rays downed the White Sox, 7-2 at the Trop.  Miller slammed a two-run homer and added an RBI-double in the win.  Erasmo Ramirez threw five-and-two-thirds innings of shutout ball to get the win.  Brandon Guyer and Desmond Jennings each belted solo shots for Tampa Bay.  The three-game series is tied. 

Brett Lawrie slammed a two-run homer for Chicago.  John Danks gave up five runs to take the loss. The White Sox had their 5-game winning streak end last night.

Final game of the series is today with the Pre-Game Show at 11:35 on Newstalk 1060 from Florida.
