White Sox and Cubs continue to win

Carlos Rodon and four relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the White Sox blanked the winless Twins, 3-0, in the middle of a three-game series at Target Field. Rodon struck out six while giving up three hits and five walks over six scoreless innings for his first win. Nate Robertson closed it out for his fourth save. Jerry Sands hit a two-run homer for the Sox, who moved to 6-and-2.

Phil Hughes yielded all three runs in six-and-a-third frames as he dipped to 0-and-2. The Twins are 0-and-8 on the year.

The White Sox look for the 3-game sweep this afternoon against the Twins. The Pre-Game Show begins at 11:35 on Newstalk 1060.

The Cubs scored five runs in the first and coasted to a 9-2 win over the Reds.  Kris Bryant homered, plated two and scored twice.  John Lackey pitched into the seventh inning to improve to 2-and-0.  The Cubs are 7-and-1 for the first time since 1985.

Alfredo Simon took the loss after failing to make it out of the first.  Cincinnati will try to avoid a three-game sweep Thursday.

The Cubs go for the sweep in the series tonight at Wrigley Field.
