• Travon Baker set the NIU career steals record last time out against Miami with his first steal. The steal was the 164th of Baker’s career, breaking a tie with Ronald Minter for the school record. Baker currently has 166 career steals. Baker has also recorded 310 career assists to tie for eighth in NIU history in career assists with Mike Lipnisky (1990-95).

• NIU is 13-0 at home this season and has won 15-straight home games dating back to last year, setting a school-record. The current streak began with a 73-55 win over eventual MAC regular season champion Central Michigan last season on Feb. 28, 2015.

• NIU’s 16-5 start is the best 21-game start to a season since 1990-91 when the Huskies were 19-2 after 21 games.

• The Huskies currently rank 12th nationally in field goal percentage defense. NIU’s opponents are shooting just 38.4 percent on the season.

• NIU is currently 30th in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 64.4 points per game.

• NIU is 33-4 all-time when scoring 70-or-more points under head coach Mark Montgomery, including a 13-1 mark this season.

• The NIU freshmen class of Marshawn Wilson, Jaylen Key, Austin Pauga, Laytwan Porter and Levi Bradley have combined to score 37.2 percent of NIU’s total points this season.

• Buffalo has won 10 consecutive games in the series dating back to Feb. 3, 2007, and 14 of the last 15. NIU’s last win against Buffalo was an 84-82 overtime victory on Jan. 7, 2006 in DeKalb.

ABOUT BUFFALO

• Buffalo comes to DeKalb with a 12-9 overall record, 5-3 in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls have won four of their last five, including a 73-68 win at Toledo on Saturday night (Jan. 30).

• Lamonte Bearden leads Buffalo at 12.9 points per game, Blake Hamilton averages 12.1 points per contest and Willie Conner also scores in double figures at 11.1 points per game.

• In conference play, Buffalo leads the MAC in both three-point field goal defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 30.5 percent, and rebounding margin at +7.6.

• The Bulls are led by first-year head coach Nate Oats, who took over Buffalo after former head coach Bobby Hurley departed for Arizona State.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BULLS

• Buffalo holds a 17-13 advantage in the all-time series against NIU and the Bulls have won 10 consecutive games in the series dating back to Feb. 3, 2007, and 14 of the last 15.

• NIU’s last win against Buffalo was an 84-82 overtime victory on Jan. 7, 2006 in DeKalb.

• The Huskies won 12 of the first 15 meetings in the series, concluding with an 81-64 win in the MAC Tournament on March 10, 2003 in Cleveland, Ohio.

• The last time the two teams met in DeKalb, Buffalo earned a 75-67 victory (Jan. 25, 2014). Buffalo led by just two with eight minutes to play before the Bulls used a 7-1 run to hold off the Huskies.

A LOOK BACK AT MIAMI

• NIU suffered its second consecutive defeat as the Huskies fell, 72-59, at Miami. Marshawn Wilson scored 24 points and Aaric Armstead added 19 but no other Huskie scored more than six.

• The RedHawks held NIU to just 27.6 percent shooting in the second half, while shooting 47.6 percent after the break, to turn a 1-point halftime margin into a 13-point margin of victory.

• Geovonie McKnight scored 18 points, Rod Mills and Ali Barnes added 11 and Dion Wade chipped in 10 points for the RedHawks.
