Jonathan Toews scored the winning goal with 1:31 left in overtime as the Blackhawks edged the Avalanche 4-3 at the Pepsi Center. Artem Anisimov, Andrew Desjardins and Patrick Kane lit the lamp in regulation for Chicago, which has won its last two. Scott Darling stopped 27 shots in the victory.
Carl Soderberg, Cody McLeod and Erik Johnson scored for the Avs, who have lost three of four since a five-game winning streak. Semyon Varlamov allowed four goals on 43 shots in defeat.
The Blackhawks return to action Sunday at the United Center against Ottawa
