L.J. Scott powered through a pile of Hawkeyes to score the game-winning touchdown in the final minute as fifth-ranked Michigan State took down number-four Iowa, 16-13 in the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Scott ran for 73 yards and a touchdown and Michael Geiger nailed three-of-five field goals as the Spartans grinded out the victory.
C.J. Beathard threw for 216 yards, a touchdown and an interception as the Hawkeyes fell to 12-and-1 in heartbreaking fashion. Iowa was held to 52 rushing yards on 24 carries in the loss.
The win puts Michigan State as 1 of the 4 favorites for a spot in the semifinals of the college football playoffs.
