The Devils lit the lamp three times in the first period and held on for a 4-2 victory over the Blackhawks at the Prudential Center. Lee Stempniak scored first with Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac adding goals less than 30 seconds apart. Mike Cammalleri notched a second period goal as New Jersey improved to 7-5-and-1. Cory Schneider knocked away 27 shots in the win.
Chicago goalie Corey Crawford allowed three goals before being lifted for Scott Darling to start the second period. Patrick Kane and Tanner Kero scored in the loss as Chicago dipped to 7-6-and-1.
The Blackhawks return to the ice Sunday at the United Center as they host Edmonton.
