Lackey struck out five batters and walked one to earn the win. Tommy Pham drilled a solo shot for the Cards, and Stephen Piscotty capped off the scoring with a two-run dinger. St. Louis now holds a 1-0 series lead.

Jon Lester gave up three runs in seven-and-a-third to take the loss for the Cubs. He struck out nine batters. Kyle Schwarber compiled two of Chicago's three hits in the loss and the team was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
