Blackhawks lose opener to the Rangers

Derek Stepan's  tally capped a three-goal first period as the Rangers edged the defending champion Blackhawks, 3-2, in the season opener at the United Center. Oscar Lindberg and Kevin Klein also lit the lamp for New York, which lost to Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves in the victory. Artemi Panarin and Teuvo Teravainen  lit the lamp for the 'Hawks, who celebrated their third Stanley Cup title in six seasons before the game. Corey Crawford kicked aside 24 shots in the loss.
