Bulls win 1st preseason game, Blackhawks open up the season tonight

Jimmy Butler and Doug McDermott scored 23 points each
to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 105-95 victory over the Milwaukee
Bucks on Tuesday night, making new coach Fred Hoiberg a winner in
his preseason debut.

Bucks: Rashad Vaughn had a team-high 20 points on 8-for-14
shooting. . Miles Plumlee had 12 points.
Star watch: Derrick Rose (left orbital fracture) and Pau Gasol
(rest) didn't play for Chicago. ... Milwaukee's Jabari Parker,
recovering from ACL surgery last December, won't play in a
preseason game until at least next week, according to coach Jason
Kidd.

Up next: Chicago faces Denver on Thursday in Boulder, Colorado. ...
Milwaukee hosts Detroit on Saturday.

The Blackhawks begin defense of their Stanley Cup title against the Rangers tonight at the United Center.  Tonight's opener is the first of three games this week for Chicago, which will open a home-and-home set with the Islanders on Friday.  Tonight's game is at 6:30.

The Blackhawks have placed defenseman Michal Rozsival on long-term injured reserve.  He broke his left ankle during the team's second-round sweep of Minnesota in last season's playoffs.  He re-signed with the Blackhawks last month.  Meanwhile, Chicago has recalled defenseman Ville Pokka from Rockford of the AHL and assigned defenseman Viktor Svedberg to the IceHogs.
