Cubs win their 7th straight game, White Sox beat Detroit for the 2nd day in a row

Kyle Hendricks logged six shutout innings as the Cubs blanked the Brewers 1-0 from Miller Park. Hendricks allowed one hit and struck out eight to improve to 8-and-7. Hector Rondon notched his 30th save as Chicago logged its 96th victory and seventh straight. The Cubs are one game behind the Pirates for the top spot in the National League Wild Card. Chris Coghlan fell a home run short of the cycle and Addison Russell drove in the lone run with an RBI single in the second. Hernan Perez and Martin Maldonado recorded hits in the loss. Tyler Wagner allowed one run in six frames to slip to 0-and-2 as the Brewers dropped their third straight.

The Cubs wrap up the regular season today in Milwaukee.

 

Leury Garcia  drilled the walk-off, RBI-single as the White Sox dropped the Tigers, 4-3 at U.S. Cellular Field.  J.B. Shuck tied the game in the ninth with an RBI-double before Garcia secured the win.  Erik Johnson tossed six-and-a-third frames of two-run ball in a no-decision, with Nate Jones picking up the win in relief.  The White Sox improved to 40-and-40 on their home field.  Miguel Cabrera had a two-run homer for Detroit.  Neftali Feliz blew the save and took the loss.

The White Sox play their final game of the season this afternoon against Detroit.
