Chris Sale won the pitching duel over Detroit's Alfredo Simon as the White Sox slipped the Tigers, 2-1 at U.S. Cellular Field. Sale hurled seven-plus innings of one-run ball to secure his 13th win. He broke the 107-year-old White Sox record for strikeouts in a season when he whiffed his 270th batter of the season. Adam Eaton hit a two-run double to provide the offense for Chicago. Simon hurled eight frames of two-run ball to take the tough loss for Detroit. Jefry Marte belted a solo homer in the loss.
