Chicago Baseball

Chris Denorfia's pinch-hit solo homer in the bottom of the 11th gave the Cubs a 1-0 win over the Royals at Wrigley Field. Denorfia drilled the first pitch he saw from Miguel Almonte leading off the 11th. Kyle Hendricks struck out nine in six innings of two-hit ball. Fernando Rodney earned the win. The Cubs are three-and-a-half games behind the Pirates for the top NL Wild Card spot. Yordano Ventura allowed only two hits during his seven-inning start. Kansas City is now a game behind Toronto for the best record in the American League. The contest was a makeup game for a May rainout.

The Cubs open up a 3-game series in Cincinnati tonight.

The White Sox open their final homestand of the season with the first of three against the Royals tonight.  Jeff Samardzija  will be on the hill for the Sox.  KC will counter with Johnny Cueto.  First-pitch is at 7:10.

Pre-Game Show begins at 6:35 on Newstalk 1060.
