Jake Arrieta took a perfect game into the seventh inning as the Cubs blanked the Pirates, 4-0, at Wrigley Field. Arrieta allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings for his 21st win. Arrieta also hit a solo homer to help Chicago avoid a three-game sweep. A.J. Burnett allowed two runs in six innings to fall to 9-and-6. Gregory Polanco's single leading off the seventh was the Bucs' only hit. Pittsburgh saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end.
