Luis Severino tossed six shutout innings, helping the Yankees beat the White Sox, 6-1, to close out a four-game series at Yankee Stadium. Severino improved to 5-and-3 as New York took three-of-four. Dustin Ackley hit a solo homer, while Jacoby Ellsbury, Greg Bird and Slade Heathcott each had two hits and an RBI. The Yanks are four games behind the Blue Jays for first place in the AL East with seven left to play. Erik Johnson took the loss for Chicago. Avisail Garcia hit a solo shot in the defeat.
White Sox have the day off today. They open up a 3-game series with Kansas City Tuesday night.
