Cubs, White Sox both lose on Sunday

Tommy Pham and Stephen Piscotty homered in a three-run first inning and the Cardinals held on for a 4-3 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Jhonny Peralta added an RBI single in the third to stake St. Louis to a 4-0 lead. Carlos Martinez pitched six-and-two-thirds innings of two-run ball to improve to 14-and-7 as the Cards avoided a three-game sweep. Trevor Rosenthal got the final four outs for his 46th save. Jon Lester allowed all four runs in six frames to fall to 10-and-11 for Chicago. Anthony Rizzo plated two with an infield single and Tommy La Stella forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk for the Cubs.

The Cubs are at home tonight opening up a series against Milwaukee.

Lonnie Chisenhall plated half of Cleveland's six runs as the Indians doubled up the White Sox 6-3 at Progressive Field.  Chisenhall belted a two-run homer and added an RBI-double to lead the Tribe.  Josh Tomlin struck out eight in just under six frames of shutout ball to earn the win.  Cody Allen recorded his 31st save.  The Indians have alternated wins and losses for the past nine games.  John Danks gave up three runs in five innings to take the loss for the White Sox.  Jose Abreu had a two-run single.

The White Sox play a Day-Night doubleheader today in Detroit. The first game can be heard on Newstalk 1060 with the Pre-Game Show at 11:30am.
