Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler left the yard as the Cubs clipped the Cardinals, 5-4 at Wrigley Field. Bryant added an RBI-double for the Cubs. The North Siders needed eight pitchers to get through the game, with Trevor Cahill earning the win. Pedro Strop picked up his third save as the Cubs are a win away from the sweep. The Cubs have won five straight. Matt Carpenter launched a two-run shot for the Cards. Michael Wacha [[ waka ]] gave up four runs in five frames to take the loss.

Carlos Rodon pitched into the eighth inning and the White Sox held off the Indians, 4-3, in Cleveland.  Rodon allowed only a run in seven-and-two-thirds to improve to 8-and-6.  David Robertson allowed a Chris Johnson two-run homer in the ninth, but held on for his 30th save.  Rob Brantly belted an RBI double for Chicago in the win.  Carlos Carrasco struck out nine, but allowed two earned runs in five-plus innings to fall to 13-and-11.  At 73-and-74, the Indians are four games behind the Astros for the second AL Wild Card spot.
