Melky Cabrera's RBI single in the bottom of the 14th gave the White Sox an 8-7 win over the A's in Chicago. Jose Abreu went deep and drove in four runs for the Sox in the opener of the four-game set. Dan Jennings pitched two perfect innings to earn his second win. Jake Smolinski, Brett Lawrie and Josh Reddick all hit solo homers for Oakland, which scored four runs on a walk, single and passed ball in the ninth to force extras. Arnold Leon was saddled with the loss. The game featured 15 pitchers, 495 pitches and lasted five hours and nine minutes.
