The Chicago Bears are hopeful top wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will be ready for the season opener Sunday against Green Bay. NFL Network reports Jeffery is "progressing well" from a calf injury.
He sat out practice on Monday and has been sidelined since early August. Jeffery caught 85 passes for more than 11-hundred yards and 10 touchdowns last season for the Bears.
The Bears will have at least five captains for the upcoming season. The team announced the leaders of the squad will include Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Antrel Rolle, Pernell McPhee and Robbie Gould.
