In his first start since tossing a no-hitter Jake Arrieta fired another gem to lead the Cubs past the Diamondbacks, 2-0, at Wrigley Field. Arrieta struck out seven and gave up just four hits in eight scoreless innings to improve to 18-and-6. Hector Rondon closed it out for his 26th save. Dexter Fowler clubbed a solo homer and Cody Ross plated a run for Chicago, which has won four of its last six. Robbie Ray racked up eight strikeouts in five frames of work, but gave up both runs to slip to 3-and-11. The D'Backs have dropped three in-a-row.

Jose Quintana fired seven shutout innings to help the White Sox power past the Royals, 6-1, at Kauffman Stadium. Quintana improved to 8-and-10 with the win for Chicago, which has won three in-a-row. Alexei Ramirez launched a three-run homer and Geovany Soto left the yard as well in the victory. Danny Duffy took the loss for Kansas City, giving up four runs in seven innings of work. Alex Gordon went 3-for-4 and plated the lone run in the Royals' second straight defeat.
