J.B. Shuck tripled in the go-ahead runs in a three-run seventh inning as the White Sox rallied to top the Twins 6-4 at Target Field. Adam Eaton added a sac-fly for insurance as Chicago salvaged the finale of the three-game series. Jose Abreu had three hits and Avisail Garcia drove in two for the Sox. Jeff Samardzija pitched six-and-a-third innings of four-run ball to improve to 9-and-11 with the win. David Robertson posted his 28th save. Casey Fien took the loss for Minnesota. Eddie Rosario's third-inning grand slam had staked the Twins to a 4-1 lead.
The White Sox will be in Kansas City tonight against the Royals.
The Cubs open a three-game series with the Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field this afternoon. Jon Lester will get the start on the mound for Chicago. Arizona will counter with Zack Godley. First-pitch is at 1:20.
The Bears blanked the Browns, 24-0, in their preseason finale at Soldier Field. David Fales threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago, which went 3-and-1 in exhibition play. The Bears open the season a week from Sunday against the Packers.
