Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta has thrown the sixth no-hitter of the season. Arrieta kept the Dodgers hitless in Chicago's 2-0 win Sunday night in Los Angeles. Arrieta struck out 12, walked one and threw 116 pitches in the first no-hitter of his career. Arrieta's no-no is Chicago's first since Carlos Zambrano accomplished the feat in September 2008. It's also the 14th no-hitter in Cubs history. Kris Bryant provided all the run support Arrieta needed with a two-run homer in the first. Chicago avoided a three-game sweep and snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory. Alex Wood fanned seven, but allowed Bryant's homer during his six-inning start to fall to 9-and-9. The NL West-leading Dodgers have been no-hit twice in nine days.
The Cubs will be at home tonight to open up a 3-game series with the Reds.
