Trayce Thompson collected three hits and three RBI as the White Sox topped the Red Sox, 5-4, at U.S. Cellular. Thompson, who smacked a go-ahead two-run double in the seventh, finished a homer short of the cycle as Chicago snapped a two-game skid. Jake Petricka logged the relief win and Daniel Robertson fired a perfect ninth for his 26th save. Wade Miley was tagged for five runs and 13 hits in six-and-two-thirds to fall to 10-and-10. Mookie Betts, Pablo Sandoval and Travis Shaw each drove in a run as Boston fell for the third time in four games.
