Ian Kinsler went 5-for-5 with three runs and two RBI as the Tigers outslugged the Cubs, 10-8, at Wrigley Field. Kinsler, J.D. Martinez and Anthony Gose all went deep for Detroit in the opener of the two-game set. Al Alburquerque picked up the win in relief. Kyle Schwarber launched a three-run homer and Chris Coghlan added a two-run blast for the Cubs, who allowed three runs in the eighth after tying the game at six in the seventh. Pedro Strop gave up all three runs in the seventh to fall to 1-and-6.
Final game of the series is tonight at Wrigley Field.
