Kyle Schwarber hit a three-run homer as the Cubs clipped the Giants, 5-4, in the opener of a four-game set in Chicago. Jorge Soler laced a two-run single for the Cubs, who are now a half-game ahead of the Giants for the second NL Wild Card spot.

Justin Grimm picked up the win in relief. Hector Rondon logged his 17th save. Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt each hit two-run homers for San Francisco. Chris Heston allowed all five runs in only four innings to fall to 11-and-6.
