Winning streak ends for the White Sox

The Red Sox avoided a four-game sweep with an 8-2 thumping of Chris Sale and the White Sox in Boston. David Ortiz went 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Rusney Castillo launched a solo homer and scored twice in the win. Steven Wright struck out eight over seven innings to improve to 4-and-4. Sale was rocked for seven runs and 12 hits in five-plus frames to fall to 9-and-6. Jose Abreu hit a two-run homer in the first for Chicago, which saw its seven-game winning streak come to an emphatic end.

The White Sox open up a 3-game series at home tonight with the New York Yankees. Pre-Game Show is at 6:35 on Newstalk 1060.
