John Danks fired six-plus innings of shutout baseball as the White Sox salvaged a split of a day-night doubleheader with a 2-0 shutout of the Royals from U.S. Cellular Field. Kansas City won the opener 4-2 thanks to solo shots from Mike Moustakas and Alex Rios. Danks improved to 5-and-8 and allowed four hits before David Robertson notched his 20th save. Tyler Flowers picked up an RBI in the win and Melky Cabrera scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Chicago is 42-and-46. Alcides Escobor had a hit and walked twice as the Royals collected just four singles. Edinson Volquez fell to 8-and-5 with two-run ball through six-and-a-third.
Game #3 in the series is this afternoon with the Pre-Game Show at 12:35 on Newstalk 1060.
The Chicago White Sox are set to hold another
championship rally.
The White Sox are honoring the 10th anniversary of the 2005 World
Series title-winning season, with members of that team gathering in
Chicago for the celebration. They will participate in the ''Parade
of Champions'' before today's game against the Kansas City
Royals. Some are scheduled to appear Sunday at the Chicago Theatre
for ''A Season to Remember: A Night with the 2005 World Series
Champions.''
Manager Ozzie Guillen says he's glad all the players from that team
are still alive.
With slugger Paul Konerko and ace Mark Buehrle, not to mention the
outspoken Guillen, leading the way, the 2005 team brought home the
White Sox's first championship since 1917.
