Chicago All-Stars

The Chicago All-Stars came up empty in last night's Midsummer Classic. Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo started at DH and went 0-for-2. Kris Bryant flied out in a pinch-hit appearance in the ninth, while White Sox ace Chris Sale did not pitch.

The American League won the game for the 3rd year in a row 6-3.

The vote is in and Cubs and White Sox fans have selected the club's all-time top players.  Ernie Banks, Ryne Sandberg, Ron Santo and Billy Williams have been named the Cubs' Franchise Four.  Harold Baines, Paul Konerko, Minnie Minoso and Frank Thomas got the nod for the White Sox.  They were chosen by fan vote from eight finalists in a MLB promotion as the players most impactful to the franchise.

The Cubs will open the second half of the season in Atlanta against the Braves on Friday.  At 47-and-40, the Cubs currently control the second Wild Card spot in the National League.  Chicago is eight games behind the Cardinals in the NL Central.

The White Sox will begin the second half of the year at home against the Royals on Friday.  The White Sox are currently in last place in the AL Central with a record of 41-and-45.  However, Chicago is only five-and-a-half games out of a Wild Card spot.

Both games can be heard on Newstalk 1060 with the Pre-Game Shows at 12:35 and 6:35.
