Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to give the Cardinals a wild 6-5 win over the Cubs in Chicago. Dan Johnson drove in two runs to help the Cards race out to a 4-0 lead, but Chicago took a 5-4 advantage behind a bases-clearing double from Miguel Montero in the sixth. Peralta's shot gave St. Louis a split in the four-game series. Miguel Socolovich earned his third win while Trevor Rosenthal secured his 25th save. Pedro Strop blew the save and took his fourth loss.
The Cubs have the day off today. They play the White Sox on Friday at Wrigley Field.
