Chris Sale outdueled Mark Buehrle as the White Sox downed the Blue Jays, 4-2, in Chicago. Sale came up short in his bid to set an MLB record with 10 strikeouts in nine straight starts. However, Sale went the distance and struck out six to improve to 7-and-4. A Jose Reyes error opened the door to a three-run eighth, highlighted by Melky Cabrera's two-run double. Jose Abreu also singled in a run in the frame to help Chicago take the opener of the three-game set. Chris Colabello and Josh Donaldson hit solo homers for Toronto. All four runs scored against Buehrle were unearned, but he still fell to 9-and-5 with the complete-game loss.
Game 2 in the series is tonight with the Pre-Game Show at 6:35 on Newstalk 1060.
