John Lackey tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the Cardinals to a 6-0 win over the Cubs in the first-of-four at Wrigley Field. Lackey scattered six hits and a walk while striking out four to improve to 7-and-5. Yadier Molina and Kolten Wong plated a run apiece in the seventh before St. Louis blew the game open with a four-run ninth. The Cards have won three straight and are (8-2) against the Cubs this season.
Jon Lester fanned eight, but allowed two runs on two hits in seven frames to fall to 4-and-7. Lester did get his first career hit to end the longest hitless streak to start an MLB career at 66 at-bats.
