The Cardinals ended their season-long losing streak at four games with a 2-1 win over the Padres at Busch Stadium. Matt Carpenter singled in the tying run in the sixth inning, and Jhonny Peralta plated the winning run on a sac-fly. Thomas Pham scored both runs as St. Louis improved to 30-and-11 at Busch Stadium. Seth Maness earned the win in relief, and Trevor Rosenthal notched his 24th save. Yangervis Solarte went long for the Padres' only score, and Brandon Maurer took the loss in relief. San Diego is 21-and-22 on the road and 39-and-44 overall.
The Brewers used a six-run fifth inning to power past the Reds, 7-3, at Great American Ball Park. Adam Lind went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and Jean Segura went 3-for-4 with an RBI-single. Aramis Ramirez and Ryan Braun each plated a run as well for Milwaukee, which extended its winning streak to seven. Jimmy Nelson improved to 6-and-8 with the win. Josh Smith took the loss for Cincy after giving up five runs in four-and-a-third. Marlon Byrd and Ivan De Jesus both had solo shots in a losing effort. The Reds have dropped six of their last eight.
