1 of the oldest boys high school Thanksgiving basketball tournaments has come to an end.
Officials at Rockford Boylan High School will not hold the event in November after more than 30 years.
The tournament had 4 teams from the NIC-10 taking on 4 other squads. The schools were either from the area or the city of Chicago.
The major reason for the cancellation was finding 4 teams to play the NIC-10 schools. Rockford Boylan officials also wanted more time for the players to recover from the football season.
The Titans normally make a run for several weeks during the football playoffs.
Rockford Boylan will now play in 3 tournaments next season. 2 will be a Christmas time.
The Rochelle Hubs will also be in 2 new tournaments next season in the boys basketball program.
RTHS is leaving the Cavalier Classic at LaSalle-Peru High School after 4 seasons. They return to the Strombom Tournament at Sycamore High School.
The Hubs have also pulled out of the Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament at DeKalb High School. They have decided to play at the E.C. Nichols Tournament at Marengo High School for the 1st time in the boys basketball program.
